The first Dale Carnegie course was taught by Dale Carnegie himself in 1912 at the YMCA in Harlem to over 200 business men! The first Dale Carnegie company store in Central New York opened in 1938 delivering our flagship course in 27 counties. In 1991 the CNY office became a franchise, purchased by Larry Heron whose father John was a very close personal friend and pall bearer for Mr. Carnegie. This event brings together Southern Tier’s best restaurants, breweries and wineries for a festive evening to support the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. The mission of the cystic fibrosis foundation is to cure the disease and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to high quality specialized care.
Some of Southern Tier's Finest young professionals were challenged to raise funds for the organization and the top fundraiser was Colton Buck from Lockheed Martin. Colton was awarded a scholarship to the world reknowned Dale Carnegie Leadership Skills for Success program. This prestigious award is valued at $1895.00 and is proven to accelerate career growth. Dale Carnegie of CNY as part of its Global Day of Giving campaign, generously provided The Baldwinsville Central School District with one of their world famous lunch & learns at no cost. BCSD was chosen as Dale Carnegie of CNY’s organization of choice for 2018 in order to help the students better cope with the demands of school, relationships and other responsibilities.
The Dale Carnegie Youth Program lunch & learn that was presented teaches communication skills. It provided youth with the skills they need to reach their goals and live up to their full potential – at school, home and work. Baldwinsville youth had the opportunity to grow their self-confidence through various activities. Most importantly, they learned how to replace negative attitudes with positive thoughts and actions. Several of Baker’s high school staff attended the event as well.
Dale Carnegie of CNY has been nominated for the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce’s Business of The Year Award for 2018 in the for profit with 50 or fewer employees category.
